A dangerous blaze broke out at a takeaway shop in Cherry Tree Avenue, Dover on Friday evening, sending plumes of smoke billowing into the night sky.
The incident unfolded at approximately 7:00 pm on 25 October when a deep fat fryer at the establishment ignited, prompting an emergency call to fire crews. Two fire engines from Kent Fire and Rescue Service arrived on the scene and firefighters, clad in protective gear and armed with breathing apparatus, bravely battled the blaze, using a fire blanket to extinguish the fire.
One person suffered from smoke inhalation and was subsequently cared for by South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics.
The incident which lasted around an hour serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with any cooking fires and authorities are urging the public to be vigilant and to exercise extreme caution when using cooking appliances.
