The Kennington Juniors under 8s team have shown incredible heart and determination by raising over £2,500 through a marathon charity shootout!
The young players, aged six to eight, battled through three hours of non-stop shooting to support the Celia Blakey Day Unit at the William Harvey Hospital and fund new training equipment for their team. Coach Craig Norman praised his players’ dedication and enthusiasm, saying,
“They were absolutely amazing. Even when they were getting tired, they kept going strong for the full three hours.”
All proceeds from the fundraiser will be split between the Celia Blakey Chemotherapy Unit and the team’s training equipment fund. The team decided to donate a portion of the money to the Celia Blakey Day Unit after one of their member’s grandmothers received treatment there.
“Cancer has impacted the families of several of our players,” said Craig. “We wanted to give back to the local community and support a cause that is close to our hearts.”
The parent whose mother is currently being treated at the Celia Blakey unit expressed her gratitude, saying,
“It meant so much to our family that the team chose to raise money for this amazing unit. My son felt so proud to be doing something for his grandma.”
The Kennington Juniors under 8s team has truly gone above and beyond to make a difference in their community. Their selfless efforts and incredible spirit are an inspiration to all.
