Folkestone & Hythe District Council has been lauded for its exceptional efforts in assisting vulnerable residents.

The council’s tax, benefits, and welfare team was recently crowned the winner of both the Benefits and/or Welfare Reform Team of the Year and Excellence in Social Inclusion categories at the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation (IRRV) national awards ceremony.

Judges praised the council’s comprehensive approach to supporting residents, highlighting its innovative collaboration with ReachOut, a private sector service from Sigma Connected, aimed at helping the most vulnerable individuals. Additionally, the council’s work in alleviating poverty and deprivation through the Household Support Fund and Home Essentials Fund was commended.

Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance and Governance, Cllr Tim Prater, expressed his pride in the council’s team, stating,

“They continue to deliver support that not only makes a positive impact on residents’ lives but also meets a nationally recognized standard of excellence.”

Folkestone & Hythe District Council also secured finalist positions in the Excellence in Innovation and Excellence in Partnership Working categories.
