A persistent beggar in Maidstone, who has repeatedly asked for money despite having accessible accommodation, has been issued a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

On 3 October, the 37-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to eight breaches of a public space protection order.

The CBO includes strict conditions to deter begging and mandates engagement with support services. Violations could result in imprisonment.
