A prolific thief has been swiftly jailed after repeatedly targeting two Sittingbourne stores in a week-long crime spree.

Rebecca Lee, 43, hit Morrisons on Milton Regis High Street seven times between 11 and 18 September 2024, swiping food, cleaning products, and toiletries. She also raided Marks and Spencer on Mill Way, making off with multiple packs of meat.

The total haul? Over £900 worth of goods! CCTV footage led investigators straight to Lee, who was nabbed in Newbridge Avenue on 18 September.

Lee, of no fixed address, faced Medway Magistrates’ Court the very next day, where she pleaded guilty to nine thefts and was immediately sentenced to four months behind bars.

Chief Inspector Allen Searle declared,

‘Our officers are focused on protecting retailers from these criminals who can have such a detrimental effect on local businesses. Neighbourhood constables are quick to identify those responsible for these crimes and will work closely with our investigation teams to place the suspects before the courts at the earliest opportunity.

‘Lee is now behind bars and she can be certain our officers will detain her promptly should she choose to reoffend on her release from prison.’
