Detectives investigating a fatal collision in Marden last week are looking to speak to the driver of a lorry or tipper truck believed to be in the area immediately prior to the collision.

On Sunday 8 September 2024, Kent Police received reports of a two-vehicle collision on Maidstone Road. The incident, which occurred at around 3.40pm, involved a white Fiat Panda and a green Kawasaki motorcycle.

Police attended the scene alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service, where the motorbike rider, a man in his 50s, was pronounced deceased.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Claire Fullagar, said:

‘It has been reported the driver of an aggregates lorry stopped briefly at the scene to check on the welfare of the person in the Fiat Panda. Allegedly, they left their details at the scene, with another member of the public.

‘We are now looking to identify the lorry driver, and encourage them, the person in receipt of their details, or anyone with information, to contact police.’

Anyone with information about the vehicle, which is not believed to have been involved in the collision itself, is urged to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538, quoting reference HW/CF/096/24.
