A dismasted catamaran with two occupants onboard had to be towed ashore by the Whitstable RNLI lifeboat on Friday afternoon, 16 August.

Launching the lifeboat at 1.40pm the crew located the disabled craft half a mile north east of the Pollard Buoy in the entrance to The Swale. Another yacht was standing by.

The casualty craft, a Dart Catamaran was taken under tow to the Tankerton Bay sailing club and craft and occupants landed ashore.

Both the occupants of the catamaran were wearing buoyancy aids and were carrying VHF radios and mobile phones. Weather conditions at the time were east north east force 2 winds and a smooth sea.

It was the 35th call of the year for the busy volunteer crews at Whitstable RNLI.
