Folkestone and Hythe District Council is keen to improve the current recycling rate across the district and is launching a new campaign.

Use your “bin-fluence” for good – is the message from the council following the launch of its new recycling crusade.

Raise the Rate aims to improve the district’s current recycling rate of 44.6%* by encouraging residents to be extra careful about putting the right things in the correct bins. The battle plan sees the launch of an A-Z guide for recycling and waste, as well as a one-stop shop for recycling and waste resources on the council’s website.

Both have been designed to make it simple for residents to find out how best to dispose of their waste.  They will be regularly updated with residents’ suggestions as Raise The Rate progresses. There will also be a focus on asking residents to use their “bin-fluence” to share recycling tips with family members, friends and neighbours.

Cllr Stephen Scoffham, Cabinet Member for Climate, Environment and Bio Diversity, said:

“The Raise The Rate campaign helps support residents in improving the amount of waste we recycle in Folkestone & Hythe.

“We’re all in it together – small changes can make a big difference both locally and for the planet.”

Cllr Jeremy Speakman, Cabinet Member for Assets and Operations, added:

“We are committed to working with residents to ensure we are doing everything we can to make recycling as easy and straightforward as possible.

“We want to empower our residents so that they can recycle with confidence.”
