Maidstone Museum is inviting us all to ‘get down on it’ and join DJ Debora V for an evening of 1980’s dance tunes and retro hits!

It’s time to dig out your rah-rah skirts, dust off your fluorescent leggings, back comb that hair and get footloose for some banging tunes at the 80’s Disco which kicks off on Saturday 10 August from 7.30pm. DJ Debbie will be hitting the decks playing everything from Wham! to Madonna, Gloria Gaynor and Michael Jackson – you’d be mad to miss it.

The event promises to be fun and is being held as part of the Museum’s trip back in time with its current nostalgia-filled exhibition ‘I Grew Up 80s’ when people can explore the cultural landscape of the iconic decade through the eyes of a child.

The exhibition is a lovingly curated time capsule of over two-hundred treasures that showcase the youthful exuberance of the much-loved decade and is the work of local collector and cultural commentator Matt Fox who has devoted himself to exploring a 1980s childhood through the iconic objects of a decade in which so much changed.

MBC Cabinet Member for Healthier Stronger Communities, Cllr Stephen Thompson said:
