Six support vehicles and rescue team rush to tree and undergrowth blaze near Ashford

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire in Wissenden Lane, Bethersden, near Ashford, involving a large number of cut trees and undergrowth.

At the height of the blaze, which began yesterday afternoon, 1 July, control operators sent six fire engines, a bulk water carrier, an all-terrain vehicle, and a technical rescue team with a drone, to the scene. 

A KFRS’ volunteer response team also attended.

Crews worked for several hours before they were able to bring the fire under control. There were no reported injuries, and the cause is not yet known.
