Police were called to the High Street in Hythe just before 5pm on Thursday 20 June 2024, after it was alleged that teenage boys had entered a premises and removed alcohol – for which they had not paid – from the store.

It was reported that the group had become verbally abusive when they were declined a sale of vaping products – after they were unable to prove their age – and that a knife had been produced, causing a staff member to fear for his safety.

Police arrived and following a brief search of the area two boys were arrested on suspicion of robbery, and one boy on suspicion of robbery and possession of a knife. A small knife and a bottle of vodka were recovered from the scene.

The boys, aged 14, 13 and 11, were later bailed pending further enquiries.
