A 20-year-old man is the second person to die in a fatal collision on the A2 at Cobham.

Kent Police was called at 4.14pm on Friday 31 May 2024 to the coastbound carriageway following a collision involving a lorry and a van.

It’s understood two lorries were parked on the hard shoulder, when for unknown reasons a white Mercedes Sprinter van collided with one of the lorries. The driver of the lorry received minor injuries, however the driver of the van, a 50-year-old man died at the scene.

The passenger, a 20-year-old man received serious injuries and was taken to a London hospital by air ambulance but sadly he died on Tuesday 4 June. The next of kin for both victims have been informed.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are renewing their appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles beforehand to call the SCIU witness appeal line on 01622 798538, or email sciu.td@kent.police.uk quoting EX/HG/058/24
