Two suspected rogue traders who targeted a man in his 80s and allegedly caused thousands of pounds of damage to his home have been arrested.

On Saturday 11 May 2024, the victim was approached by men who offered to clean the gutters and undertake urgent roof repairs at an address near Seal Hollow Road, Sevenoaks. It is reported the suspects went to the property two days later and charged the victim a vastly inflated price for additional roof repairs, compared to what was originally quoted. Allegedly, the men also damaged the roof when they removed the lead flashing.

Responding officers carried out initial enquiries and later arrested two men in their 30s on suspicion of fraud by false representation, theft, and criminal damage. The pair have since been bailed until 16 August, pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information, private CCTV, or relevant dashcam footage, is urged to call the west Kent appeals line on 01622 604100 quoting reference 46/79558/24.
