During the afternoon of Tuesday 26 March 2024, police stopped and searched a vehicle in Northdown Road, Cliftonville, where they found eight wraps of suspected Class A drugs, two mobile phones and a quantity of cash.

A man was arrested and, as part of the investigation, officers also searched a property in Margate under the Misuse of Drugs Act where large quantities of class A and class B drugs were seized as well as a knuckleduster, weighing scales and other items suspected to be used in connection with drug dealing.

A 62-year-old man was charged on Wednesday 27 March with possessing cocaine with intent to supply, possessing cannabis with intent to supply, possession of a weapon, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on the same day and was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 29 April.
