Police patrols in Tunbridge Wells have arrested a man suspected of being linked to an organised crime gang and bulk shoplifting offences.

Officers from the Neighbourhood Task Force also seized several items believed to be stolen, including quantities of baby milk and medicinal products.

The enforcement action took place on Wednesday 20 March 2024, after constables stopped a vehicle which had been linked to suspicious activity in areas including Tonbridge. The vehicle, a Mercedes, was brought to stop in London Road, Tunbridge Wells and a search led to the recovery of several bags containing suspected stolen goods. 

A man aged 51, from Plaistow, London was arrested and taken into custody. He was later charged with theft and bailed to appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Friday 5 April.
