A suspect has been charged with murder following the death of a man near Faversham. Patrols were called to a report of a disturbance in The Street, Boughton-under-Blean at 10.39pm on Wednesday 13 March 2024.

Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man in his 30s was found with a stab wound. He was confirmed deceased near the scene. The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate began a murder investigation and, on Thursday 14 March, a man who presented himself at Canterbury police station was arrested.

On Saturday 16 March, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges of murder and possession of a knife in a public place against a man from Canterbury. The 33-year-old, was remanded in custody to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court later the same day.

Three other men, aged between 37 and 42, who were arrested in connection with the incident have been bailed to return to the police station on 11 June and 15 June, pending further investigation. Two men, aged 31 and 43, who were also detained have been released without charge.
