Investigators from the Kent Crime Squad have charged a suspect with attempted murder after a victim was seriously injured in Chatham.

It’s reported that after midnight on Tuesday 20 February 2024, a man left an address in Luton Road and when he returned was assaulted by two men inside the property.

The victim suffered an injury consistent with a stab wound before the suspects left the premises, allegedly in possession of the victim’s mobile phone and a quantity of cash.

Emergency services were contacted and the victim was taken to hospital for medical attention. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

On the same day, a woman was arrested in connection with the incident and on Thursday 22 February, three men were also detained. On Friday 23 February, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised a charge of attempted murder against a 32-year-old man. A man aged 39 was charged with assault by beating.

The pair were further charged with conspiracy to rob, along with a man and a woman, both aged 38.

The men aged 39, and 32, both of no fixed address, appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 24 February and Monday 26 February respectively. They were remanded in custody to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 22 March.

The two 38-year-olds, and from Chatham, were conditionally bailed by Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 24 February, to the same hearing.
