A suspected county line dealer has been arrested around midday on Thursday 22 February 2024, following a pursuit in Chatham by two officers were on patrol when they saw a person they knew to be a drug user, leaving an alleyway in Hartington Street.

The constables were then approached by a member of the public who described somebody acting suspiciously in the area. They entered the alleyway where a man was seen to run in the opposite direction, and the officers gave chase.

Following a short pursuit the suspect was detained in Hartington Street and wraps of suspected class A drugs were seized along with three mobile phones. A search of the route he had taken led to the recovery of further suspected drug deals and another phone.

A 54-year-old man from Walworth, Greater London was taken into custody and an investigation is underway.
