Police are appealing for witnesses to an alleged violent robbery at a business in Canterbury Street, Gillingham at around 6.30pm on Friday 2 February 2024 when a man entered the premises and is reported to have demanded money and threatened staff before assaulting them.

Later the same day, officers arrested a suspect in connection with the incident.

A 30-year-old man from Gravesend, was later charged with robbery and assault by beating and remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday 4 March.

Detective Constable Scott Bittlestone, of Medway CID, said:

‘We understand that there were a number of customers inside the shop who we have not been able to trace at this stage. They may have information which is important to our investigation, and I am urging them to contact our appeal line.’
