A prolific shoplifter has been jailed less than a week after his latest offence, following swift work from officers in Dover.

More than £2,000 of meat was taken from a food outlet in a town retail park, during a shoplifting spree that occurred between 31 December 2023 and 30 January 2024.

An investigation from Dover’s Victim Based Crime Team led to the identification of Christopher Bygraves, 35, who was charged with 13 counts of theft on 4 February 2024.

The following day, Bygraves, from Dover, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court and was given a 26 week sentence after pleading guilty to all of the offences.
