The River Medway has reached high levels after recent torrential rain with Forest Row, Ashurst, Hartfield and Penshurst in the Tunbridge Wells area most likely to experience flooding.

It’s reported the weather will be mostly dry until New Year’s Day, but more rain is expected from 03:00 PM on 1st January 2024 which could cause the river to rise further and stay high until Tuesday 2nd January.

Measures are being put in place to protect the area by closing flood gates and checking defences.

No homes are expected to be flooded at this time but advice is still to stay away from low lying footpaths and bridges near the river and not to walk or drive through flood water.
