A bungalow on Scrapsgate Road in Minster on Sea, Sheerness caught fire on Saturday evening, 9 December 2023, sending smoke into the air.

Residents nearby were told to shut their windows and doors to avoid breathing in the smoke.

Six fire crews arrived at the scene shortly after 7.30pm and battled the blaze. They managed to bring the fire under control and stayed to ensure it was completely out.

The Broadway in Minster was closed to traffic but has since reopened according to the Kent Fire and Rescue Service update at 9.00am this morning, 10 December.

No one was hurt in the incident and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
