A supermarket employee was reportedly attacked by two thieves who stole items from a store in Canterbury on Sunday night.

The incident happened at a supermarket in St Dunstans Street around 10pm on 26 November 2023.

Police received a report that two men working together had stolen goods from the shop before one of them assaulted a member of staff.

Police officers arrived at the scene and arrested a man nearby who was allegedly involved in the crime.

A Canterbury man has been charged with six offences, including theft, assault, possession of a knife, possession of cannabis, criminal damage and a public order offence.

He has been released on bail and is due to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 2 January 2024.
