National Highways has reported a serious incident which occurred at approximately 07:43 this morning resulting the the closure of the A20 eastbound. 

Kent Police are currently leading a multi agency response to the incident. National Highways resources are assisting with traffic management.

The carriageway is expected to remain closed for a number of hours.

Traffic caught within the closure will be released via the rear of the queue as soon as possible. Please await instruction from police or National Highways personnel before turning.

Diversion Routes

Road users travelling eastbound are advised to follow the hollow black circle diversion symbol on road signs:

  • Coast bound diverted traffic will exit the A20 at the Courtwood interchange.
  • It will then join the eastbound B2011 towards Dover.
  • It will continue on the B2011 until the junction with Priory Road roundabout in Dover.
  • Then it will exit south east into York Street and travel on this road to the A20 at Townwall Street where it can resume.
