Officers have continued the fight against retail crime by arresting a woman who was targeting shops in Chatham and Gravesend.

Kent Police received reports that between Thursday 24 August and Saturday 11 November 2023, beauty products and other items were stolen on four occasions from Boots the Chemist in The Pentagon shopping centre, Chatham.

During this period, two thefts of meat, cheese and laundry products were also committed at Tesco in New Road, Gravesend and further laundry products were stolen at B&M in Medway Street, Chatham. The total value of the stolen items exceeded £1,400.

On 11 November, Gabriella Tokorova, from Northfleet was arrested and taken into custody. She was charged with seven thefts and pleaded guilty at her first hearing before Medway Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 13 November.

The 24-year-old was immediately sentenced to 56 days’ imprisonment.

District Commander for Medway, Chief Inspector Trevor Jenner, said:

‘Our officers are determined to protect businesses from those criminals who commit multiple thefts believing they are unlikely to be detained. We work closely with shopkeepers and security staff and will strive to identify those responsible for retail crime and bring them to justice at the earliest opportunity.’
