Maidstone man charged after ‘housing needs staff’ reported threats and assaults

A Maidstone resident has appeared before court in connection with allegations of abuse and threats towards staff who help people with housing needs.

It is reported that on Tuesday 17 October 2023 a man made several visits to the Trinity Foyer in Church Street, during when threats were made to harm employees, who were also subjected to abusive language.

An investigation was led by the Maidstone Victim Based Crime Team and a man was arrested on 9 November.

The suspect, aged 55, of Marsham Street, Maidstone was later charged with three counts of assault and of breaching a criminal behaviour order.

Weapons

He was further charged with seven counts of possessing an offensive weapon.

These charges relate to items seized from an address including several objects described as homemade throwing stars (or metal shurikens).

On Friday 10 November, the defendant appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

He was remanded in custody until a hearing at the same court on Wednesday 15 November.
