Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court

A suspected shoplifter from Tunbridge Wells will appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court accused of stealing more than £1,400 of perfume and three Christmas trees.

Kent Police officers have been investigating a series of thefts in the town centre which are alleged to have taken place over the past month.

On 7 October 2023, multiple items of perfume were reported stolen from Fenwick in the Royal Victoria Place shopping centre. It is alleged the department store was targeted again on 31 October, when more perfume was stolen, and that on the same day a further attempt was made to steal from The Perfume Store.

An investigation by the West Kent Victim Based Crime Team also included reported thefts at Boots and of Christmas trees from a Tesco store in Pembury Road.

A man from Tunbridge Wells was arrested on Wednesday 8 November and later charged with four counts of theft and an attempted theft.

The 58-year-old is bailed to appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on 11 December.
