Tebin Kadir and Darren Duffy were arrested during a series of early-morning warrants on Friday 14 June 2019, as part of an investigation carried out by detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.

Kadir, 44, from Margate, was jailed for 11 years after pleading guilty to multiple charges relating to the supply of drugs and possession of criminal property.

Kadir was deemed to have played a leading role in the enterprise, regularly dealing in amounts of cocaine exceeding 1kg a time. Officers located quantities of the drug with a street value of up to £16,500 when they searched a Mercedes car belonging to him at his home address, and also seized cash and steroids from inside the property.

The cocaine had fingerprints on it that were later matched to Duffy, 50, from Ramsgate, who was already known to be working for Kadir. Text messages between the two were found on Kadir’s phone, and a further quantity of cocaine was found hidden inside Duffy’s fridge.

He was also found to be in possession of an illegally-encrypted EncroChat phone and later pleaded guilty to charges relating to the supply of drugs and possession of criminal property. He was jailed for five years and three months.

Both men were sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on Friday 27 October 2023.

Detective Sergeant Jon Saxby of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said:

‘Criminals who supply class A drugs care little for the damage it causes to our society and the many lives torn apart. That is why we will forever target the likes of Tebin Kadir, Darren Duffy and others who seek to benefit from the misery of others.

‘The lengthy prison sentences they have received indicate just how serious this type of offending is, and should send a very strong message to others who may feel they can break the law without consequence.’
