A 20-year-old man has been charged with stealing thousands of pounds worth of jewellery from a Canterbury business.

Following an investigation by the Kent Police Crime Squad, a man from Gravesend, was charged with stealing multiple items of jewellery worth over £14,000 from a business in Northgate on 15 September 2023.

He was charged with two further counts of shoplifting, alleged to have taken place last month:

  • Headphones and aftershave worth a total of £270 were taken from a shop in Folkestone on 26 October.
  • Chocolates worth £116 were reported stolen from a shop in Folkestone on 23 October.

The suspect has also been charged with burgling a property in Coolinge RoadFolkestone, on 21 October. It was reported that a wallet containing a bank card, a laptop and a mobile phone were stolen during the incident.

He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 28 October and was remanded in custody. His next hearing will be at Canterbury Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.
