Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a woman reported she was sexually assaulted in Maidstone.

The incident happened in Gabriel’s Hillbetween 4.15am and 4.30am on Saturday 23 September 2023.

The victim entered an alleyway situated halfway up the hill, where it is alleged she was sexually assaulted by a man she did not know.

The suspect, who is described as being a black male, left the scene and the victim later alerted the police.

Detective Inspector Helen Smithers, of Kent Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: ‘Our detectives have been completing enquiries into this incident, including forensic examinations and the review of CCTV footage in the area.

‘We are now urging potential witnesses and anyone with information who has not yet spoken to the police, to call the appeal line.’

Drivers with dashcam who were in the area at the time are also asked to check for relevant footage.
