A suspect has appeared in court charged with a robbery and theft offences in Ashford.

Kent Police were called to a report that a man had grabbed a woman’s wrist and stole her wallet in the communal hallway of a property in Beaver Lane on the evening of Thursday 7 September.

Enquiries at the scene led to a man being arrested in relation to the offence the following day.

Detectives from East Kent CID have since charged a man from Ashford, with one count of robbery and four counts of theft.

The alleged thefts relate to incidents where power tools, alcohol and other items were stolen from shops in Ashford between Monday 14 August and Thursday 7 September.

The 30-year-old man appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 11 September and was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 9 October.
