Dover Council steps in to ease impact of cost of living on community groups and charities

Community groups in the district looking for vital funding to help support local people with the cost of living are being encouraged to apply to Dover District Council’s Cost of Living Community Impact Fund – which opened on Tuesday 12 September.

The Community Impact Fund is providing more than £85,000 to help local charities, Community Interest Companies, and community groups deliver their immensely important work in our communities. The funding includes £7,500 from the Dover District Lotto and £30,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

DDC’s new Cost of Living Community Impact Fund has been developed from the long-standing DDC Community Grants Scheme.

Under the new scheme, applicants can apply for between £100 and £2,500. There will be one round of funding for 23/24. The grants are to help people with the cost of living, focusing on supporting communities in financial hardship.

The closing date for applications is 5pm Monday 23 October 2023.

Cllr Charlotte Zosseder, DDC Cabinet Member for Community, said: “Volunteers are essential to the well-being of our communities, and we are delighted to offer this funding to help support projects bridging the cost of living gap for local communities.

“We are very pleased to be able to provide this important funding, and to help local groups to provide help to those who need it the most. We hope as many groups as possible take this opportunity to apply.”
