At around 9.24pm on Saturday 2 September 2023, a collision involving a Ford Fiesta and two pedestrians took place in Church Hill, Charing Heath.

Kent Police officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a 28-year-old woman was taken to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. A child was also taken to hospital with non-serious injuries.

Following an investigation by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, a 25-year-old man frrom Maidstone, was charged with causing the death of Lisa Chapman by dangerous driving.

He is also charged with failing to stop following a collision and failing to report a collision.

Appearing before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 6 September he was remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court in October

Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries and would like to hear from anyone with information who has yet to speak to police.

They are also appealing for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage taken in the area around the time to come forward.
