A man has been charged with burgling a church, a business and a house in Chatham, following a quick response by police officers.

The man aged 33, of no fixed address, is accused of breaking into a church in New Road on Thursday 11 August 2023 and stealing a keyboard and some cash. He also allegedly damaged a window and a door at the building.

On Sunday 21 August, he reportedly burgled a business in Old Road and took six mobile phones, a bank card and some cheque books. He is also suspected of causing damage inside a house in New Road on Tuesday 29 August, where he was arrested by police patrols.

The man was charged with three counts of burglary by the Medway Victim Based Crime Team. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 30 August.
