Police have arrested a man after finding drugs, suspected stolen cleaning products and a hockey stick in his car in Margate.

The car was stopped by local response officers on Monday 31 July 2023 as part of Kent Police’s Safer Summer campaign. The officers noticed the car was being driven suspiciously and asked it to pull over.

They searched the car in King Street and discovered suspected cocaine, mobile phones linked to drug dealing, a number of cleaning products believed to be taken from a shop and a hockey stick that could be used as a weapon.

The 34-year-old man from Margate was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, supplying drugs, theft and possessing an offensive weapon. He is still in custody while the investigation continues.

A woman who was also in the car was arrested but later released without charge.
