A man who allegedly robbed two people and assaulted three police officers in Maidstone has been arrested and charged.

The first robbery took place around midnight on Thursday 27 July 2023, when a man walking in a park near Knightrider Street was threatened and had his phone stolen by someone he knew. The second robbery happened two hours later, when a man waiting at an ATM in Lower Stone Street was approached by a man who took his cash as it came out of the machine.

Both victims reported the incidents to Kent Police, who quickly located and arrested a suspect at an address in Knightrider Street.

The suspect reportedly attacked three officers while being taken to the police station. A 30-year-old local man was charged with two counts of robbery and three counts of assaulting an emergency worker. He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 29 July and was bailed to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on 21 August.
