A Tunbridge Wells man has been sentenced to 38 weeks in prison for stealing from a staff room at a sports centre.

Kalvin Tiernan, 27, broke into the centre on St John’s Road on Wednesday 5 July 2023. He wandered around the changing area and then entered the staff room, where he took a rucksack and items including a tablet computer. He then left through a fire exit.

The police were notified and they reviewed the CCTV footage at the centre.

They identified Tiernan, who was known to them, and arrested him on Monday 24 July. He was charged with burglary and appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court the next day. He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay £500 in compensation. His sentence also included the activation of a suspended sentence.
