A Margate man has been accused of making a bomb threat to a property in Sweyn Road, Cliftonville, leading to the evacuation of 16 households.
A man aged 61, was arrested at the scene on Wednesday 19 July 2023 around 9am after Kent Police received a report of a man threatening to damage the property.
Officers were supported by Kent Fire and Rescue Service and set up a cordon around the area as a safety measure. The cordon was removed later and residents were allowed to go back to their homes.
Margate CID investigated the incident and charged the man with communicating a bomb hoax.
He is expected to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Friday 21 July.
