Officers from the town’s Neighbourhood Task Force have seized two cars that were suspected of being involved in criminal damage using catapults in Cranbrook.

The incident occurred on Thursday 13 July 2023, when a Ford Focus and a Honda CRV were spotted by patrols in Frythe Way, trying to evade them. The vehicles were later found abandoned nearby, and were confiscated as they had no insurance.

The officers also discovered catapults inside the Focus, which could have been used to cause damage to property and wildlife in the area.

Police Sergeant Ed Kavanagh said: ‘We take anti-social behaviour very seriously and we will not tolerate any activity that disrupts the peace and safety of our communities. These vehicles have been seized while we investigate their owners and their possible involvement in criminal damage using catapults. We urge anyone who has any information about this or any other anti-social behaviour to contact us.’

The seizure of the cars is part of Kent Police’s Safer Summer initiative, which aims to reduce anti-social behaviour and nuisance driving during the warmer months. The initiative also provides advice and support to residents on how to report and prevent anti-social behaviour.
