Kent’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Scott (pictured above), wants e-scooters used on public roads to be confiscated and destroyed following a legal e-scooter trial in Canterbury ended in November 2022.

He said they were unsafe and illegal and he did not want people to think they had been decriminalised after the trial in Canterbury finished. He emphasised that E-scooters were only legal in areas that are part of a government trial.

Mr Scott made his views about e-scooters known at a Kent and Medway Police and Crime Panel meeting on Tuesday.

He reportedly said: “Take them and crush them because they are not legal on any public land in Kent now that the trial in Canterbury is over.”
