Officers are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Tunbridge Wells.

The incident happened at around 7.40pm on Saturday 17 June 2023 as the victim, a man in his 60s, was walking in Bayham Road.

It is reported the man was involved in an altercation with a motorist during which he was allegedly assaulted and fell to the floor. Patrols and paramedics were called to the location where the victim had suffered a head injury.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

On the same day, officers arrested a 58-year-old man from Lamberhurst on suspicion of assault. He was later bailed pending further investigation.

Detective Constable Chris Welham, of West Kent CID, said: ‘We have been completing enquiries into this incident and are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to contact us.

‘Residents with private CCTV and motorists with dashcam are also asked to check for footage that may assist our investigation.’
