Proactive work by Ashford’s Neighbourhood Beat Team led to two knives being seized and two arrests made.

A local beat officer on a bike spotted suspicious activity in the Memorial Gardens on Monday 19 June 2023 before two further officers from the team also attended.

A group of people were stopped and searches led to two knives being seized and two people arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.

Charges

A 17-year-old boy has since been released on bail pending further investigation.

An 18-year-old man from Ashford, has been charged with possession of a knife and breach of a knife crime prevention order.

The 18-year-old appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 20 June and was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on a date to be arranged.
