Two teenage girls have been charged with multiple offences after causing trouble in Tonbridge.
They were involved in a disturbance at the Angel Centre on Thursday 8 June 2023, where they allegedly spat at a staff member and smashed a glass door. They then reportedly assaulted a woman in Quarry Hill Road and stole her phone, pouring a drink over her head.
Officers tracked them down at the train station with the help of CCTV cameras, where they allegedly assaulted two constables during their arrest.
A 15-year-old girl was charged with three counts of assault, theft and criminal damage. The other girl, aged 13, was charged with two counts of assault and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker. They were both released on bail, with conditions, to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 13 July.
Police are currently patrolling Tonbridge and other areas of west Kent to tackle anti-social behaviour as part of the Safer Summer initiative. The initiative also targets violent crime and road safety and involves officers taking part in various operations to address issues affecting their communities.
