Officers investigating an attempted aggravated burglary in Whitstable have charged two suspects.

During the evening of Wednesday 31 May 2023, the occupants of a property in Joy Lane answered the door to two people who are alleged to have become threatening and tried to gain access to the address.

Police were called and carried out a search of the area before making two arrests.

Death threats

Following an investigation, a 17-year-old boy from Whitstable was charged with attempted aggravated burglary, possession of a bladed article in a public place and assaulting an emergency worker. He was also charged with a separate matter of making threats to kill.

The man aged 27, of no fixed address, was also charged with attempted aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article in a public place. He was further charged with causing damage to a police vehicle.

Both appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Friday 2 June where they were remanded to appear in court at a later date.
