Kent Police is currently investigating a number of Beach Hut Break-Ins on the seafront between Folkestone and Sandgate.
Writing on My Community Voice, PC Carly Farrow reports the incidents are understood to have taken place over this past weekend, the 25th to the 26th of February 2023.

PC Farrow reported: “We are still trying to identify some of the owners of the huts that were targeted. If you discover that your hut has indeed been targeted, please do contact us as soon as possible using the online reporting facility at www.kent.police.uk and click the “Report” tab.
For all Beach Hut owners- we urge you to look at your current security measures. Here are a few helpful hints and tips:
- Are the items you are storing in there valuable? If so we would not advise you to store them in the Beach Hut overnight.
- Could they be placed somewhere more securely at home or in a garage? If items are to be stored overnight, consider using security marking measures such as engraving or using marking pens to put your postcode on them. Keep them out of view of any windows.
- Are your locks adequate?
- Could you fit some more or some better ones or use a security bar across the doors?
- You could consider fitting a battery powered alarm, much like some use on garden sheds.
- A solar powered security light is another good preventative measure.
- Battery Motion Sensor cameras are also available now. This is likely to be extremely useful for evidence gathering and will no doubt assist in any insurance claims should your hut be targeted.
- Finally, keep in touch with your neighbours and keep an eye on each other’s huts.
