The car, which had been seen parked in Longley Road, recently came to the attention of the officer who suspected it was being used to commit criminal offences.

Having made checks they discovered the car did not have any tax. They also believed it may have been linked to a nearby shop.

On Thursday 26 January 2023 town centre officers went to the area where they saw the vehicle parked.

Whilst making enquiries they saw a man opening the boot of the car who was seen taking out a large quantity of tobacco.

The man was searched and officers seized 231 packets of tobacco along with 41 pouches of loose tobacco with an estimated street value of more than £4,000.

Officers have since informed Trading Standards about the business. The car was also seized.
