A man is to appear in court charged in connection with a serious assault in Whitstable.

Kent Police was called to outside the Wheatsheaf in Herne Bay Road at around 6pm on Sunday 9 October 2022 after a man sustained an injury consistent with a stab wound.  He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

A man from Canterbury, was arrested on Tuesday 11 October and charged the following day with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was also charged with one count of burglary and criminal damage relating to an incident on the afternoon of Sunday 9 October at a property in Canterbury.

He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 12 October where he was remanded in custody.

The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.
