A pair of suspected ‘bulk’ shoplifters from London have been tracked down and arrested by a Sevenoaks patrol.

During the afternoon on Sunday 11 September 2022, staff at Boots the Chemist in the High Street reported a man and a woman had left the store without paying for a large quantity of items.

Officers quickly responded and, with the assistance of CCTV operators, a car was stopped in Pembroke Road. The two occupants were arrested and taken into custody. The constables also seized the vehicle and more than 500 cosmetic items valued at around than £6,400.

Charged 

Ionut Casapu, aged 42 and Lacaramioara Casapu, aged 50, both from Leicester Road, Finchley were later charged with theft.

The former was also charged with driving without insurance and was further arrested for being wanted on a court warrant. He appeared before Medway Magistrates Court on Monday 12 September where he was bailed to a hearing at the same court on Tuesday 27 September.

Ms Casapu pleaded guilty at the hearing on 12 September and was sentenced to 24 weeks’ imprisonment.
