By Ray Duff – Roadworks along Broad Street, just south of the village of Lyminge, will cause major disruption and diversions of all traffic for six weeks starting on Monday 25th July.

The road will be closed 24/7 in both directions to enable drainage works to be carried out until 5pm on 4th September 2022.

Bus route 17 will be on shuttle service between Folkestone and Newbarn corner, about half a mile south of Lyminge. The 17 will also be on shuttle from Sibton Park to and from Canterbury, but it’s a very long walk between the two points.

The Hythe- Canterbury irregular service 18 will also face diversions.

All other traffic is diverted via Sibton Park, Rhodes Minnis, Sixmile Cross, Stone Street, Stanford and the A20 around the works in both directions.

Some 1,000 villagers have reportedly set up a petition against the works, disruption, and time period which is especially damaging during the summer tourism period. There are fears too for ambulance and emergency services access.
