Thanet District Council’s Cabinet had agreed a proposal to let the Grade II listed Old Town Hall in Market Place, Margate back in April 2022 and is now seeking a tenant for the entire two-storey building under a new lease agreement.

Margate’s Market Place has become a hive of activity in recent years, with boutique shops, cafes, bars and restaurants opening. An important part of this regeneration is the restoration and effective use of the Town Hall building as a focal point and landmark in the Old Town.

The council agents say the Old Town Hall would suit conversion to a boutique hotel, business centre or retail unit. A significant amount of renovation work is required to bring the Old Town Hall up to standard and this will be reflected in any lease deal.

It should be noted that Margate Museum building does not form part of the offer.

The Old Town Hall is being marketed by Oakwood Commercial and full and final bids must be received in writing or by email by noon on Tuesday 12 August 2022. To book a viewing, please contact Oakwood on commercial@oakwoodhomes.biz or call 01843 222704.
